like it or despise it, marc newson and the guys at aston martin have learned how to do things, and do them well, this is right mark of skill, i like it, shweeeet stuff !!
My Idol.
i like Marc Newson work and his futuristic designs , as I live in Sydney, Australia and saw the Lockheed Lounge, 15 years ago when I went to the Powerhouse Museum and was stunned with his work. I make futuristic lamps and get a lot of my inspiration from his work. I’m a painter by trade but my passion is to make lighting objects. I’m self taught craftsman and recently uploaded 15 videos with my lamps onto the YouTube. Check it out Filip Sawczuk.
Ernst- i feel that they are only part of the art. i do agree that what they do is incredible but it not much different than a fantastic carpenter completing a fantastic architects building. you still have to give props to the designer. if macro couldn’t afford the aston crew than im sure that he would be doing it him self. im not a huge fan of macros pieces but i am a huge fan of marc. i feel an artist is someone that takes extraordinary amount of passion into what ever it is that they do.

But nowadays the term is not only for computing.
the Aston Martin Metal workers are the right artists.. Marc Newson is a marketer..that just happens to be able to scribble things..(I mean scribble, as his drawing capabilites seem limited..)
You never see the right brilliant creatives / artists of the world.. as they have no thought how to market their talents..

My son had to do an Art Critique on this Guy last year, fascinating mind, and some incredible designs to his credit. Bit of an “Enigma” when it comes to his Personal Life.

i agree. i dont see what the fuss is about. but after watching this video i realised that people arnt spending millions on the design… its just the name. a brand name. marc newson is industrial design equivalent of louis vuitton or any “high-flyer” exclusive name.
His name has been hyped up so much now that he can spit on a brick and sell it for a mill. there are so many other incredible designs coming out everyday with very small, or no recognition.
but hey… what can you do?
that lounge is nothing more then a blobular object.. I dont see it
